Steve's Mac Home Page

After a child sat on my rucksack on a crowded train, my MacBook Pro power button was depressed a couple of millimetres and a hinge worked loose. The Apple Store could have fixed it - for about £350 including parts and labour. It turned out that a squeeze and the tightening of four screws was all that was required.

This worked for me: you are on your own. Do not try this unless you know what you are doing.

Assembly is, of course, the reverse of disassembly.
